Timothy Kember was commended to the work of the gospel in 1949, by the Sarnia Gospel Hall. He had spent some time in gospel work with G. P. Taylor in Brockville, Ontario, prior to his commendation. In 1949, Timothy and his wife Mary moved to Bloomfield in Prince Edward County, where tent meetings were held. The assembly in Picton was formed that year.
Timothy visited door-to-door, and held house meetings, in small communities in Ontario for much of his life, including Peterboro, Cambellford, Adolphustown, Wellington, Maberly, and Blind River. He is now in his 98th year, and thankful to be able to attend assembly gatherings still.
